Kalamazoo Area Food Systems Inventory
KAFSI is a research project aimed at establishing a baseline of the state of the food system of the Kalamazoo area. Research has been done on agriculture, processing, markets, gardening, socioeconomic factors, health & nutrition, waste & recycling, and ecology as they pertain to the route of food from field to table in southwest Michigan. Currently, with the guidance of a steering committee with members from Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, Woodward School for Technology and Research, Michigan State University Extension, and Fair Food Matters, intern Kara Purcell is working to finalize the report. If you have questions about this project, please contact Chris Dilley.
