This year's Harvest Fest brings together some of southwest Michigan's most talented and entertaining musicians, as well as local farmers and the rest of our community, for a day of celebration!
- Joe Reilly
- Joe Reilly writes and performs music of "goodness and possibility." His background in many different musical styles — including Native American music, folk, blues, jazz, liturgical, and classical — has led him to incorporate these diverse influences into a unique and powerful voice.
"I humbly offer these songs from my heart to the world like a gentle spring thunder shower," says Joe. "I write, sing, and perform in order to celebrate life and allow God, my ancestors, and love to sing through me."
2:30-3:30
- Los Bandits de Michigan
- Los Bandits' style reflects the richness of Tex-Mex music by combining Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Country, Rock, Norteno and Tejano music. Los Bandits — Rene Meave, Guillermo Martinez, and the Ortiz brothers, Ernie and Steve — bring an alternative world beat sound that appeals to a very diverse audience.
1:00-2:00
- Schlitz Creek
- From the mountains of Kalamazoo, this band brings a high-energy stage show featuring bluegrass standards as well as unusual material for a bluegrass band, such as Bob Seger, the Dillards, the Monkees, Lennon & McCartney, Kenny Rogers, Bill Monroe, and Merle Haggard. The "boys in bibs" are favorites in taverns and watering holes throughout Southwest Michigan.
Schlitz Creek includes: Isaac "Ike" Smith on fiddle, Nick Deaton on banjo, Dave Dekema on lead guitar, John Speeter on mandolin, and Nick Griffith on bass.
4:00-5:00
- Lonesome Moonlight Trio
- The Lonesome Moonlight Trio has been playing their version of swamp opera for almost 20 years at the Cooper Café on Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo. They invite you to join them for breakfast on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
The trio is Pat Mertaugh (banjo, fiddle, dobro), James Cooper (mandolin, harmonica), and Pete Humphreys (guitar).
11:30-12:30
- K'zoo Folklife Organization
- Members of K'zoo Folklife Organization will entertain you in a day-long jam session with a wonderful mix of instruments and tunes, from folk to bluegrass to Celtic. KFO is a non-profit organization that promotes the presentation and preservation of multicultural, traditional and contemporary folk music, dance and the arts for education and enrichment.
