Volunteer Opportunities with
the Growing Matters Garden Program

Volunteers are a very important part of our educational gardening program! If you are interested in volunteering with our program, please fill out and return our volunteer application.  There are many ways you can help with our program, including:

Community Volunteer Night

garden potluckCome lend a hand, meet new people, eat some good food, and learn about organic gardening at our community volunteer nights/potlucks.

Join us at our main garden (2119 N Westnedge) every Wednesday evening, May through September.

A potluck of appetizers, sides, snacks, and desserts begins at 6:00 pm.  Please bring food to share and your own tableware. Gardening activities follow (~6:30 - 8:00). Family, friends, and neighbors are welcome to join us too!

Master Gardener Opportunities

volunteer help

If you are a Master Gardener working towards your basic certification or re-certification, you can count the time that you volunteer at the Growing Matters Garden as personal choice hours.

For a detailed description of our Master Gardener volunteer opportunities, please visit the Kalamazoo County Master Gardener website.

VolunTeen Opportunities

The Growing Matters Garden program is proud to work in conjunction with the Volunteer Center of Greater Kalamazoo to offer volunteer opportunities for local youth.  Area teens are welcome to help as a garden teacher assistant, garden maintenance assistant, or farmers' market assistant.

For more information about our VolunTeen volunteer opportunities, please email or visit the Volunteer Center of Greater Kalamazoo website.

College Student Internshipsintern at garden

The Growing Matters Garden program provides internship opportunities for students from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
